Tim McGraw is an American country music singer best known for his country music career.  McGraw has also had some success in the adult contemporary music market.  McGraw’s music appears on the Curb Records label.  McGraw has had recent success as an actor in major Hollywood motion pictures.

Background

Tim McGraw was born as Samuel Timothy McGraw in Delhi, Louisiana on May 1, 1967.  Tim was raised by his mother, Betty Trimble, in a town called Start, Louisiana.  Tim McGraw’s birth father was Tug McGraw, the famous relief pitcher for the New York Mets and the Philadelphia Phillies.  McGraw went to college at Northeast Louisiana University on a baseball scholarship.  While at college, McGraw learned to play the guitar and developed his musical skills.  He then headed to Nashville to start a country music career.  McGraw was soon discovered while playing in front of a hot dog stand called HounDogs.

Tim McGraw is currently married to country music superstar, Faith Hill.  McGraw met Faith Hill when Faith Hill toured as McGraw’s supporting act on McGraw’s 1996 Spontaneous Combustion Tour.  They married in 1996 and currently have 3 daughters together:  Gracie Katherine, Maggie Elizabeth and Audrey Caroline.

Tim McGraw’s career has focused on country music, although his 2004 duet with rapper Nelly brought McGraw success on contemporary hit radio.  Tim has also had great success as a Hollywood actor in major motion pictures.  McGraw played a sheriff in the independent release, Black Cloud.  McGraw also received great reviews for his acting skills for his role in Friday Night Lights, the 2004 football drama.  McGraw also appears in the 2006 movie titled Flicka.  Tim McGraw is a member of the Democratic Party and has been vocal about his political aspirations.

To date, Tim McGraw has released 10 solo albums which, together, have sold over 30 million copies.  The names of his albums are:  Tim McGraw (1993), Not a Moment Too Soon (1994), All I Want (1995), Everywhere (1997), Place in the Sun (1999), Greatest Hits (2000), Set This Circus Down (2001), Tim McGraw and the Dancehall Doctors (2002), Live Like You Were Dying (2004) and Tim McGraw Reflected: Hits Vo. 2 (2006).

McGraw’s debut album, Tim McGraw, was popular, but was not a major hit.  McGraw’s second album, Not a Moment to Soon, became a country music best seller.  McGraw’s third album, All I Want, contained numerous chart topping hits.  McGraw’s fourth album, Everywhere, reached Number 2 on the charts, became Album of the Year in 1997 and also contained numerous chart topping hits.  McGraw’s fifth album, Place in the Sun, topped the country music charts with at least 4 hit singles.  Tim McGraw’s sixth album, Greatest Hits, also rose to the top of the country music charts.  McGraw’s seventh album, Set This Circus Down, was a huge success in 2001.  McGraw’s eighth album, Tim McGraw and the Dancehall Doctors, allowed McGraw to include music by his tour band that had been with him for a number of years.  McGraw’s ninth album, Live Like You Were Dying, featured the title track which became one of the biggest hit singles of 2004.

Tim McGraw has won numerous music honors and awards.  To date, McGraw has won multiple Grammy awards, Country Music Association Awards, American Music Awards, Country Music Association awards and People’s Choice Awards.

Tours

In April 2006, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill reinvented their original Soul2Soul Tour with a second joint tour called the Soul2Soul II Tour.  Throughout 2006, the Soul2Soul II Tour played in over 50 cities with over 70 performances across the country.  The Soul2Soul II Tour was one of the most attended and highest grossing concert tours of 2006.  The tour ran from April 2006 to September 2006.
